Forums hacked???

Post by blackraider »

By an unknown reason I see al entries in the forum filled with an asterisk (*). I'm using firefox in Win XP and Firefox an Konqueror under Linux with the same results.

Regards. Blackraider.

Yes, apologies to everyone for the downtown, but the forum was mildly hacked, and it appeared to be a good time to upgrade to the more secure release of phpBB.

But geez, I'm not sure I like the colour scheme or the furniture around here... I think we'll need to redecorate :)

Hello everyone.

The forum was apparently hacked, by accident, by ME. [_]O

While trying to use "word censors" in the administration panel, I had an issue with deleting a test word censor, so I changed it instead. I used " ****** " and I censored it to " ****** ". Apparently I didn't know that the asterisk worked like a wild card.

I was trying to limit some of the "spam" we receive in "graphic" format if you catch my meaning...

By the time George and Chris noticed and tried to fix the issue... they upgraded to PHP3. So there is now more control and features for our forum activities. Sorry for the down time. I'll now be working with the styles/colours a bit to make improvements.

[_]O

I once tried to change something on a forum and somehow managed to crash a server. After that I just stopped trying to fix thing and blame the cruel world.

Wait... You mean you don't like the porn spam that the forum gets at 2AM...

But... I love porn!

I guess for a safe for work board it's probably not a good thing to have anyways.
