Missile break problem

Post by super ruler »

Question on the ICBMs that are launched by ground vehicles instead of silos.

How do you know which ground Artillery unit can launch a particular ICBM? I played the Capture Taiwan Scenario where as Nanjing I had some DF-11 SRBM and DF-15 SRBM Nuke missiles but when I check on those missiles there are no Available Platforms for launching them. So I figure this must be because Nanjing had not researched the right tech to develop a launch vehicle but the question is how the hell do I figure out which vehicle can launch this WMD missile or any other missile that does not have any vehicles under the Available Platforms description?? Where can I find the information on this in the game? I know the missile size capacity on the launcher is relevant but I have NO way to figure out which platform in which technology I have to research to get the right launcher.

Its missile size for sure.

When you go to research a launcher unit, make sure you know the size of the missile you intend to launch from it, and look at the stats of the launcher to make sure it can handle the missile size before you possibly waste the money and time researching said launcher.

You DONT want to use nukes in this manner in the game though. The games mechanics include a huge penalty to YOUR troops morale/efficiency that makes nuke use more harmful to you than the region you nuke.

Everyone ought to try nukes at least once. Just remember to save before you launch them, because Tkobo is not blowing smoke up your butt, the rest of the regions involved and the WM will react as if you went on TV stomping kittens and puppies. Your own troops are evidently major suicidal masochists who wish that they too could be on the side that is getting vaporized.

Wait tkobo I know I have to find the right launcher witht he right missile cap number either equaling or exceeding the missile cap value of said missile. But what I don't know is how do I find out the stats of a launcher in some future technology I have yet to research? I can see a particular technology like "Missile Tech X" has this particular launcher like "SCUD Launcher X" but when I click on it I have no option to see the stats of "SCUD Launcher X" to find out how much missile cap number it can handle. I can only see the stats of launcers I already have in my arsenal or can build with current technology.

What do you guys mean by that? I don't understand. Could you explain it more directly what exactly will happen to me?

I know the WM and other nations will be getting their panties in a bunch and whine like bitches just for using a handful of nukes but then again the Taiwan scenario only lasts a few months and in the longer campaigns I plan to build a la Arms Race a couple thousand Nukes to get the point across that I can't be messed with. So unless they want to get the whole planet nuked I don't think it will be a problem to use a little nuke here or a nuke there. Think of it as tough love from a parent to a child when reunifying China.

When you are in the research screen and pick unit, there is a button that lets you see what the stats of that unit will be.

Ill put a screenshot up to show, as the buttons kinda easy to overlook.

The nuke reaction/penalty really should be experienced. Its one of the top debate issues about the game mechanics.
You really should like Light said, experience it for yourself so that you can add your voice to the debate.
AND as Light said, make a save game first, so that you can experience the penalty without the possibility of ruining your current game .
Than just load the save and continue on as if it never happened .

Which is what one side of the debate would like to be the case :P

Thanks I'll try that. I was thinking before about the abstract technologies, I didn't realize you meant the unit prototype design techs.

By the way I was also curious about the research centers I have for researching tech and unit designs. I noticed in your screenshot you have some labs in Tokyo and Japan. My research labs are in Nanjing and I was wondering is there a quality difference between different countries' research labs in terms of research speed or is everyone's scientists just as smart as everyone else? I always thought the research labs in some backward countries in Africa would research tech much slower than a research lab in developed countries like USA but I just want to be sure. Is the only scientific difference in the game terms in Tech Level year?

Very complicated question.

Technically, no.An American research guy=s a British research guy=s a Cuban rsearch guy =s etc....

BUT the condition of a country, its DAR ,its GDP/C, etc... heavily influence research capacity and efficiecny.

So their is a difference, but its based on a regions characteristics rather then who lives there.
AND any region in the game can become the number one tech research powerhouse once you learn how.
Becausee you can effect and change for the positive your DAR, GDP/C,etc...
Is the only scientific difference in the game terms in Tech Level year?
I dont understand this question.

Thanks.

I mean by Tech Level like Nanjing has Tech Level 1998 and Taiwan has tech level 2001 I think (Nanjing's technology is about 2-3 years behind Taiwan). I still can't believe how Japan seems to have the highest tech levels in the world at 2006-2007 or some thing like that. Thats even higher than USA or Germany! I have yet to figure out how to find the perfect formula to turn my nation into technology superiority I wish there was an easier way to do this besides trial and error this is going to take a while.

As for the different regions I still find it hard to believe Africa can research at an equal level with USA/Europe I mean I don't know of any Harvard Universities or Oxford equivalents in that whole continent so its hard for me to believe its realistic regardless of how much money they can make.

But with nukes, if you turn approval affect off on the main menu, will your troops start surrendering like usual or will the low MAR have no effect on them except to perhaps weaken them?

Super-

The difference is in which techs are available at different levels. A backwards country can get rich, build research centers, and pump as much money into it as an advanced region, but they will not have the same inventions available until they actually reach the advanced tech levels. For example, Central America might be researching it's best energy upgrade, clean coal plants, at tech level 1985 (random example), while Japan researches the beginning stages of Fusion at tech level 2008... even if they are even in every other way. The same deal works for unit designs. This game allows for poor countries to step up into the limelight, but they have to work through all the steps to catch the established big dogs.

Could you answer my question please?

I never have it turned on and I have heard tkobo say he launched loads of nukes and still kept fighting so does it actually work?

Hmmm, i dont think i said that.

Til my recent attempt at the whole world one wave nuke attack, i hadnt even used nukes very much.

I "think" berg did some testing on what your asking though, ill look for a thread on it since im stuck at the shop most of today.

Edit: wrong person, wasnt Berg, but found the thread.

I have used nukes twice. One of these was simply a test scenario to make sure I knew how to do it, that got exited directly afterwards.

The thing I am curious about is the duration of this unit malaise. Say I am Japan and nuke the crap out of China. My units are safe on my island, but how long do I have to wait before landing on the mainland? Or are they permanently wussies just because of some nukes?

I have a few tactical nukes, and a unit-full-in-every-hex Arab Emirates as the remaining enemies. Whenever I try to rain missiles on them, they shoot them down with their MASSIVE naval force. Is it OK to nuke them, as I have 100% justification on them since they attacked Israel.

How do I dropped nuke?
