Max number Research Centers... ?

Post by BigStone »

I was always under the impression that more centers is speeding up
research (i'm not talking about money.. !)
But im beginning to doubt that...

In Colorado i had 11 RC's.Brought that back to 6 (didn't change the sliders except the money to keep it the same with 11 RC's) and the research is improving and the eff is also rising..

So... is there a relation to max centers and ,lets say, poulation... ???
(If so.. how does that mechanisme works... ?)

Me confused .. me very very confused... :-?

More centers will allow you to spend more money per day on research. This is capped by your amount of population, so research center growth and population growth will have to go hand in hand at some point. Conquest is good for this as well as a good efficiency boost in a short time.

Well the point is that i have a better research with less RC's..
(I've build at least 5 RC's for nothing... )

The next games i'm gonna play i will determine the amount of RC's
by the money i can spend in that econemy and make sure that
de budget slider is always maxed out to the right.....
maybe it wil help... :-?

Exactly. You seem to have reached the RC cap for your population. You destroy some RC's, and your population rises so your research still rises. Until you drop below the amount of RC's your population can handle you should not experience a decline for scrapping them.

Example:

10 RC
100mil pop

Lets say the pop can handle 10 RC's, but you build 20 RC's. Those extra 10 RC's will be sitting there going to waste until your population rises to 200mil. One should activate for every 10mil pop you gain in this example.

It would be cool to know how much RC can be handled by how much pop on various scenarios. I don't know if it changes across various map sizes, but it would make sense.

no the amount of RC's allowed per population is not different over a the scenario's. It's not effected by the data u put in the scenario's. It's hard-coded :D

 I had something very strange happen to me. My eff was only 108% but after I took a region with just 2 centers my eff jumped to 180% then i took another region and my eff jumped to 215%. In total all i had was 10 centers. before i took the regions I was putting only 300 million into research but after i took the 2 regions I was putting in over 3 trilion ( and with no way to pay for that). Course I did gain over 25 million people.

I've had 315% as Korea before...

But I was putting 19bil a day in and I had 14 RC :D
