Un-settled Island Supply
I am playing the World scenerio now, as NA.
I want to build bases in Hawaii, but there is no supply there.
There are two bases being built on the big island, but they have no supply, and may never complete.
The game won't let me build supply depots there, or anything for that matter.
How do I jump-start supply on an un-inhabited island? I can't land engineers because neither the airstrip or the pier are completed.

[quote]If the engineers are amphibious and the ships you use to land them are amphibious you dont need a pier to land them.

which implies that I can build stuff with landed engineers even though there are no supplies for them?

Well - there may be airborne engineers, but the standard infantry engineer is not airborne (can not be dropped by parachute0, but it is amphibous.
The second part of your statement implies that:
1. You scrapped an existing airstrip on the "Big Island" of Hawaii.
2. You were able to build a small base there - I assume with landed or air-dropped engineers, and once this base was built- the local supply was suffecient for you to upgrade the existing pier to a sea port.
3. Once established, facilities and bases will build, even if they report "No Supply".
Well, that is fine, but I am trying to establish the Pearl Harbor naval base and Hickham air field on the island of Oahu - which currently has no supply and no pre-established building projects.
So - again, how does one jump-start construction on an un-inhabited island?
And, is implication #3 above correct?

Correct.Although im actaully stating it ,not just implying itwhich implies that I can build stuff with landed engineers even though there are no supplies for them?
Engineers can build things even if the hex they are in has no supply. Its one of the engineer units abilities.

They have never been able to start building anything but piers, airstrips and emplacements in unsupplied territory. I just tested it now and that is still the case.tkobo wrote:Ive had them build... while in a hexs/areas that had no supply.
I also tested placing an airbase at the limit of my supply then deactivating the nearby airstrip. Once the hex I was building in lost supply, construction did not continue even when 3 engineer units where in ZOC.
You must have had a source of supply somewhere.

Nah, should be easy enough to recreate.
I can remember 2 distinct instances very well, one a supply depot and one a bridge.
I can even remember the maps and general locations they took place on.
So i guess, someday next week, ill give it another look.
As always ,i could be wrong. Its just i remember these instances so strongly.
