Swarm behaviour

Up #6 Congo

It's already mentioned a couple times... the cluster forming or swarming
But i never seen it in such amount as this:

Image

I'm playing Congo and half surrounded the Sudan troops.
(for this occansion i switched to Sudan)
They have little space but somehow they always seems to concentrate/contract at
exact one point at exactly the same time (8:00 pm) and then swarm out again.

This goes on and on forever and always on the same spot (very hypnotic btw :o )

It looks to me those units are traped in a loop or something like that.. :-?

I've played it a couple of times with different diff levels but that seems to make no difference...

Weird.... :-?

Yup in fact I've seen this in every version I've played, the AI seems to have the ability to manufacture endless ammounts of units with no regard or link to it's economy.

I've seen long games in africa where a ENTIRE region is just covered wall to wall with AI Stacks of units, hell in some cases your hard pressed to even land on madagasca, as it's wall to wall with unit stacks.

It completely borks the game, the 'AI' is virtually non existant in this game about all it knows how to do is throw masses of units your way with little strategy other than trying to cut you off.

No dropping in airbourne troops, it can't perform a naval assualt or invasion to save it's life and only thorws ships your way if you happen to move one of yours in range, no strategic use of it's air power, such as bombing nothing it's utterly brain dead bar throwing lots of gournd units it shouldn't even be remotely able to afford your way should one of your units take a spot of it's turf, not exactly imaginative really now is it?

In fact I'd not attribute any 'intelligence' into this games AI over a dry roasted peanut.

Sounds harsh I know, but it's a fair, it's by far the biggest thing that marrs this game by far I do hope you guys have the will to get to grips with it and get it sorted, this is a good game but isn't a great game because of the hopeless untallented and completely lacking AI.

Maybe a short explanation for that last pic (sorry can't enlarge it.. )

That stack is formed not for having to little space... but the AI is sending its troops into unsupplied grounds without the assistance of supplyunits... :-?

 That be easy pickings with F/B's then. Can't run away because there's no fuel and eventually can't fight without ammo. I love to see such a number of units like that. Some might live to see another day.

I find those "traffic jams" as i refer to them VERY funny. The units stacks that run from one end of the map right off the viewscreen are extremely funny.

Most of the times I've seen them involve bases surrounded and under attack by my ground troops. The picture that crosses my mind is something between the "highway of death" in Gulf War I, and the battle scenes in Terminator where 90% destroyed city rubble was something like 50% human skeletal remains. :P:P:P

That's better..... is there anyone who can make somesort of a -sticky "how to place normal sized picks on boards.."
???

And i wouldn't call this a traffic jam.... its a complete disaster...
I'm wondering how Michael Douglas will react on this... :D

The size a posted picture appears on the boards is mostly decided by the host site on which you put the picture.

Most of those host sites have kb or mb size limits that will automactically resize the picture in an effort to lessen its bandwith use if the picture breaks those size limits.

Personally, even though i find these 'traffic jams","complete disasters","road blocks" ,"unit clusters" ,etc..(whatever colorful name feels best to you the user) extremely funny and great for my kill ratios, i dont think they should be able to happen to the extent they do.

At some point, there should be a "cap" reached that disallows units from entering such a hex.

In my game as Venezuela, practically every connurbation in Latin America looks like this...The Brazilian have lost 2/3rds of their territory while they have 450 battalions hanging out in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro and their entire air force in Brasilia. Oh, and their Navy is hanging off the Pernambuco, under the fire of Venezuelan shore batteries  . I think the worst are the Peruvians, who have something in the range of 800+ units dug in around Lima.
