I just checked my model. I play Greece, but it is easy to see how other regions go in the production statistics. If you notice something unusual, start this region to study the details.

To work properly my wmdata file needs all its data, not only the consumption lines because there are some other changes.

My model for russia increases its advantage in oil and ore resources and industry, but it is poor in timber, water and agriculture.

united states are poor in all resources but are very powerful in industry.

Several small countries appear to be spcialised in some products. Thats cool!

Now I will correct some unusual resoults by adding facilities on the map.

Tested Norway, now it can make some profit from petroleum sales because of increased demands just like in real life, importing metal, selling petroleum...

In my model Russia consumes just as much petroleum as it produces, just to make demands more real, so to sell some need to increase domestic prices, AI doesn't do that so world top oil exporters are Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Norway... Russia stays way down on exports, its also strong in ore exports, industry, and some other goods, importing uranium and a bit of consumer goods. So or I need to reduce demands on petrol a bit (what I dont want to do) or build some more oil in Russia and USA and increase demands again...

USA is dependent on petroleum and other resources but are very powerful in industry, consumer goods as-well.
Yes now countrys could have specializations in some products and buy the missing ones...

Still some things to be done, will check your model tomorrow, is it only wmdata file have to be changed to make your model work?

How ta add facilities on the map?

I hate re caching it takes so long...
Thanks for the guide
Have you excluded orbats from cache as I suggested? It shouldn't take more than 2-5min to cache if orbats are excluded...
Well, I found out I was testing the game without units all the time when I excluded orbat file. I need it with units, found out about running in windowed mode from now when creating the cache :)

I guess I done here, its good for me anyway, now the resources are balanced and trades have to work much better. You can specialize your countrys production in one or few available resources. Demands are bigger (or default production reduced for most)

I just edited Modern Day Campaign and made new scenario - Modern Day Oil Crisis, so the old Modern Day Campaign is still available.

This information (how many tons of goods are used in making other goods) would be extremely useful to have on the Wiki (or if it's there, being made more prominent since I couldn't find it).

It's quite hard to plan your facility building without this info--I was assuming a 1:1 ratio of Industrial:Consumer goods! :o

I just spent the last hour searching for the one post I remember that breaks it down like you are requesting. I give up. I agree it is difficult to find, but there is/was ONE post listing each item and what it takes to make the end item..

That same post also tells you where to find that info.. it was in one of the files.. but which one eludes me, :(

One thing to be aware of if you are planning to min/max. Do not just use raw resource numbers as many other things affect output, such as Domestic Approval rating, techs, infra spending, etc

These data are in the file default.wmdata in maps/data

it is editable file so you can update the production balances.
