I did some testing, since I never use ground based launchers.

If a ground based unit is loaded with missiles, and the Launch Authority is allowed, the missile will fire at any legitimate target within range - land, air or sea. I tested 4 or 5 different missile types and the WS-2 never functioned as normal arty while loaded with missiles.

What appears to be the case, the launcher, in this instance a WS-2, will NOT function in normal artillery mode IF it has missiles loaded.

D'oh!
I forgot all about that. It's not so much an issue for the US, because M-270 doesn't hold as many missiles and US missiles are lightweight. Russian and Chinese units hold more missiles, their missiles tend to be heavy, and also they don't carry as much ammo.

The way missiles are loaded into a unit their weight is subtracted from the ammo they can carry. So some units can be loaded to the max with certain missiles and still have enough ammo capacity to fire while others cannot.

Well the idea was to get around the aircraft superiority issue, only using my warplanes to deal with very serious problems. China doesn't have a lot of warplanes and these ground launchers was really for Russia but after taking a bite that was too big, I got peace (I spent countless billions to convince them to have pace with me and get into a alliance with me for now).

Then shifted most of my forces to the south and start eating up Vietnam.

Them Russians sure do like their aircraft. I am almost certain in every game I have played they have the largest number of Air fabs of any nation in the world, even mine. Problem with Russian planes is their range.. very short legs early on.

Introduce the nearest Russian airbases to some ALCMs.. :P

Here I thought you used everything (I read your AARs...unpause! :P )
TBH, most of the land-based missiles kinda suck so you aren't really missing anything. I've been trying to make them more useful without making them OP.

Preferably of the nuclear variety.

Haha, yup, China is nice to start off with. A bit too big but quite nice.

Thanks to GIJoe597, I finally got the artys to fire by unloading these missiles.

Now there is untold amount of civilian death and UN is still "Delighted" with me.

Vietnam has fallen quickly as I continued moving. The Artys really helps to put down the resistances in the cities very quickly and I use my F-35 warplanes to get air superiority quickly. I love using 4 stacks of them, I believe I'm using what's called a "Buzz-saw" tactic with the warplanes. I think I'm ready to take a potshot at the Russians again.

If memory serves, "buzzsaw" was what tkobo (I can never remember that random placement of letters so I made it an acronym in order to remember, (Total Knockout Body Odor), called the method he posted using planes. It is very effective.

My main gaming computer is still in the shop. I will unpause if/when I get it back with all data intact. :)

Yeah, 4 stacks isn't enough, it's a mini-buzzsaw maybe :P
It's a cheap tactic, but it is highly effective and it also requires zero micromanagement (which means way less mouse clicking).
Not judging by the way. If I was going to play without heavy use of the pause key I would use it for sure.

Glad you are getting a handle on your situation and enjoying the game.

If a tech says it increases efficiency, then it does.
