Liberating allied land
I an just wondering, let's say I am playing as Italy and I am allied with Slovenia. Croatia then invades and occupies Slovenia. Then, I go to war with Croatia and my units invade Croatia occupying former Slovenian land. Does this mean liberate Slovenia and by this I mean, is Slovenia independent again? Or is the land occupied as a part of Italy?

Once a falls it is gone forever. However if the region has not fallen yet, and you are allied with them, when you attack the attacker over your allies former territory they will get it back.
In your scenario as italy, When croatia goes to war with Slovenia. Italy will have to attack croatia before slovenia falls. (even if they only have 1 hex left), but they gota have 1. Then when you attack croatia. all of slovenias former homeland will goto slovenia.
