One of the generals present during the briefing has seen a flaw with the employment of 1st and 2nd MCAB. Members of the General Staff asks this observant general to please shed some information on this failed idea and offer some sound tactical advice.

With UK's coastal ships near the landing sight of MCAB-1/2, the Antiship capailities will quickly sink any advancing ships, which will be spoted way before they reach shore. The Allies would have never launched D-day had the channel been full of german ships, Nore should you launch operation Perseus with the channel being full of UK ships. That is unless you wish to revert to WW1 tactics where you blow a whistle and send in the next wave.

Also, the AI can be rather crafty with subs now. They have suprised me a time or two.

CINCWMD raises an eyebrow and turns his attention to the commanders of Northern Fleet, Germany Flotilla, and France Flotilla. The commander of Northern Fleet states that they have been running ASW patrols along with the Germany Flotilla in the area, and have destroyed several UK attack submarines in the last month. They admit that their patrols are staying well clear of the coast and their air cover. We could move several of our attack subs and position them just outside of their two naval bases on the easterm side, Aberdeen, and Wallsend-On-Tyne. The Germany Flotilla Commander also claims that he can route several subs to block the eastern entrance of the channel. Commander of the France Flotilla states that he has a submarine that is patrolling the stretch of the channel and has identified several UK ships in that channel near their ports. There is also a sub stationed on the western entrance silently waiting. The commander of the 1st Air Assault Corps states that the port of Walls-On-Tyne is one of the scheduled targets for the pre-land invasion air assault. The port in Aberdeen is a no-go due to the radar and air defence facility. We do have several regiments available to drop on the channel port of Portsmouth. Plymouth is a no-go due to the radar and air defense facility, but again as the France Flotilla commander states there is a sub waiting silently already. Commander of Northern Fleet states that has several subs on the western side of the island as well near the ports of Barrow-in-Furnes, and Liverpool, and Ayr, Greenock, and Belfast.

The General Staff agree that the general brings up a good point, by the time we launch the ground and naval invasion we will have air superiority; however, we will not have a solid enough ASW and anti-ship wall to allow an uncontested naval landing in the area. The 1st and 2nd MCAB will assume their positions surrounding London via the Chunnel as per Plan A as that is will only add a small amount of time for them to assume their positions. As for the 3rd and 4th MCAB landing and Northern Fleet Naval Infantry - Main Force landing they will proceed once the port of Aberdeen is captured by the Baltic Fleet Naval Infantry. If that fails the commander of Northern Fleet is to divert all attack submarines to this area to set up an unbreakable net and sink any ships that should try to exit the safety of the port.

March 1st, 2021

Operation Perseus has been delayed 5 days due to weather and last minute redeployments.

March 4th, 2021
Two British subs fired on one of our Norwegian Walrus attack subs that was approaching the Wallsend-On-Tyne naval base. Before our attack sub was sunk, she revealed the location of the two subs and a SSN-971U Akula II, SSK-207 Kobben, and an old SSN-945 Sierra were ordered to converge and attack. Our timing was off and the coordinated attack was quickly spoiled when the two British subs picked up the Akula and concentrated their fire. Our Akula barely escaped and is heading for Norway for repairs.

March 5th, 2021
2 more Akula IIs were lost entering the Northern Channel. They were detected after they attacked two British patrol boats operating near the entrance. After the patrol boats were sunk, the brits conducted a large ASW operation in the area and quickly located the two Akulas and sunk them. The Northern Fleet Commander quickly fired out a command to all subs to not engage the enemy, until further notice. The other subs we have sitting on the bottom of the Northern Channel have not yet been detected.

Phase I and II of Operation Perseus launches.

2 squadrons of our high altitude M-17 recon aircraft begin patrolling the eastern and central regions of the British Island.

Flying very low in our new MI-33K Homer VTOL aircraft, the 14th, 15th, 16th, and 22nd SO BDEs successfully infiltrated their target objective areas on the coast. The 3rd SO BDE was not so lucky and flew right over a large concentration of British troops massed in the Northwest Highlands and almost 40% of the squadron was picked off by short range sams. The reserve force of the 3rd SO BDE loaded into a fast troop transport hovercraft unit and infiltrated in the extreme north.

We lost another 2 battalions of spetznaz scouts that were trying to infiltrate the Norflok area via our fast troop transport hovercraft units.

While moving out of their infiltration zone in the hills of Castlebar Ireland, a battalion of spetznaz from the 15th SO BDE was spotted making a move. A squadron of British Tornados has been tracking and harassing the unit which is now taking heavy losses. The spetznaz scout battalion remaining concealed in the hills has not been spotted.

Image

March 6th, 2021
Another team from the 16th SO BDE has been assigned to scout the northern coast of Ireland.

All of our bombers and strike aircraft conducting airfield strikes with long range missile strikes for phase III of Operation Perseus are on standby.

Phase III of Operation Perseus commences. 6 squadrons of TU-160 Blackjacks carrying AS-15 Kents, 7 squadrons of TU-22M3 Backfires mounting Kh-101 and AS-26 long range air to surface missiles took off from Iceland airfields to conduct a massive coordinated airfield strike on the UK. Image
Image

In addition to our heavy bombers 6 squadrons of SU-24s from Norway carrying AS-15 Kents and 10 other various squadrons of strike aircraft carrying long range air to surface missile from the theater participated in this massive coordinated airfield strike.
Image

Image

12 units around France and the Shetland Islands of medium range surface to surface missile launchers also launched a massive amount of SS-26 surface to surface missiles towards UK airfields.

The initial coordinated air strike devastated UK air fields. 5 airfields were destroyed outright. 6 airfields sustained anywhere from 15% to 95% damage. 4 of their airfields remain 100% operational.

March 7th, 2021
Phase IV of Operation Perseus was conducted several hours after the initial coordinated air strike on British airfields. To test the air capabilities a regiment of light airborne infantry of the 1st Air Assault Corps took off from an the airfield in Lerwick. The regiment was able to air drop onto the airfield in Lossiemouth. A few surface to air missiles were fired but overall the air drop was a success and the regiment is now fighting the garrisons there for control.

The 11th Air Assault Brigade also took part in the diversionary operation and took off from the Faroe Islands and conducted a successful air drop on the air field in Sligow Ireland. The only air resistance encountered was from a Tornado sqaudron which was quickly grounded by several of our F-35 operating in the area.

The purpose of these diversionary air assaults were to test British air capabilities after the air field strike. Currently there are only about 4 to 6 ground attack Tornados operating over UK air space. The brits are either being cautious and holding back their air superiority fighters or our air field strikes were successful in grounding much of their air force. 11th Air Assault Brigade and the 1st Air Assault Regiment of 1st Air Assault Corps will be given the elite "Guards" status for their bravery.

March 7th and 8th, 2021
Phase V kicks off with various squadrons from the 1st Air and Air Defense Forces Command, Northern Fleet Naval Aviation, Operative Strategic Aerospace Defense Command West, and Long Range Aviation Command West conducting strikes with shorter range air to surface missiles and air superiority missions along the coasts of the UK and Ireland. A few UK fighters responded but the threat quickly diminished.

Image

It appears that UK air space belongs to the Russian Federation. The go has been given for phase VI to kick off in 24 hours. Several pre-invasion airborne assault targets have been changed due to the total destruction of several UK air fields. New targets will be chosen and very soon the skies over the UK will be filled with silk as the largest coordinated airborne assault in history takes place.

Largest? How many troops do you have in this operation? Operation market garden had over 34,600 troops droped in.

1st Air Assault Corps alone will conduct a coordinated air assault with 18 squadrons of heavy transports (x8 IL-76MD, x7 TU-330ANT, x3 A400 Airbus) transporting 24 regiments of light airborne, and 1 regiment of medium (Vodnik) airborne troops. That is 72 light airborne units with 540 personal each, and 3 medium (Vodnik) airborne units with 594 personal each.

40,662 personal dropped on 18 different targets in the UK.

2 light air assault regiments has already been dropped during the diversionary phase. 3,240 personal.

An additional force on reserve and ready for immediate transport include:
1st Air Assault Division with 2 air assault regiments of light airborne troops
2nd Air Assault Division with 3 air assault regiments of light airborne troops
76th Guards Air Assault Division with 1 air assault regiment of elite light airborne troops
98th Airborne Division with 1 airborne regiment of medium (Vodnik), 2 airborne regiments of heavy (BTR-D)
99th Airborne Division with 3 airborne regiments of 1 light, 1 medium (Vodnik), 1 heavy (BTR-D)
100th Airborne Division with 2 airborne regiments of light airborne troops
101st Airborne Division with 3 airborne regiments of 1 light, 1 medium (Vodnik), 1 heavy (BTR-D)
32nd Airborne Brigade with 2 battalions of heavy (BTR-D) airborne troops.

A bit overkill probably, but this campaign is for shock and awe.

Phase VI. After the destruction of several of the coordinated pre-invasion airborne assault targets by our missile strikes, we revisited our target zones. The 1st Air Assault Corps has air transport assets from the Transport Aviation Command West to simultaneously attack 18 targets with 8 regiments of light airborne troops, 8 double regiments of light airborne troops, and 1 regiment of medium (Vodnik) airborne troops. These targets are illustrated on the map below in orange.

Before Phase VI can be conducted there are several target areas that will need to have anti-air defense strike missions.

March 8th and 9th, 2021
UK air defence units scattered throuh out the British island were targeted by several squadrons of strike fighters and heavy bombers. Most of the British long range air defence units were knocked out in the south and one last massive air campaign utilizing the majority of the air units from 1st Air Defence Forces Command, Northern Fleet Naval Aviation, Operative Strategic Aerospace Defence Command West, and Long Range Avaiation Command. Air strike missions and new CAP zones were established covering almost all of the eastern, southern, and northern coasts of the UK.

Image

With the skies clear of British fighters, Transport Aviation Command West and the 1st Air Assault Corps launched its massive airborne assault kicking off phase VI of Operation Perseus. 24 regiments of light airborne infantry and 1 regiment of medium (Vodnik) airborne troops, a total of 40,622 personal, were dropped on 18 different targets.

Image

Image

The largest airborne assault in history did not go with out problems though. 1 squadron of of IL-76 heavy transport aircraft came under attack near Norwich. 10 very under strength sqaudrons of British fighters scrambled from their airfield as 6 regiments of light airborne rained down. 2 other squadrons of TU-330 ANK came under attack by surface to air units near St. Helens and Leeming. Our drops on Lossiemouth in the north came under attack by the air defence facility near Aberdeen. Troops landed with heavy losses and were quickly overrun by a force of about 3 brigades of British mobile infantry and mechanized infantry. 3 regiments of our light airborne infantry were lost before the reserve force of the 100th Airborne Division retook and held Lossiemouth.

Image

Our forces in northern Ireland were able to take the airfield at Siglo and 2 brigades of Northern Fleet Naval Infantry made landfall and prepared for their march towards the air defence facility near Belfast.

Image
Image

5 battalions of Marines from the Northern Fleet Naval Infantry captured most of the northern shores of Aberdeenshire and Moray paving the way for the main force of Northern Fleet Naval Infantry. This caught the attention of the Royal Navy and the British dispatched a Swiftshire SSN from the Aberdeen Naval base. Northern Fleet was ready and had 3 Akula II SSN and 3 Norwegian Walrus SSN positioned to intercept and quickly sink the sub before she picked up the main naval invasion force.

March 10th, 2021

Phase VII of Operation Perseus begins with 6th Army making landfall on UK soil via the Chunnel and linking up with airborne troops of the 1st Air Assault Corps. Initially getting an entire tank division and a motorized rifle division of 6th Army took longer than expected as small pockets of UK garrisons held their ground in the provinces of Kent and East Sussex. Roads were fiercely congested making it evern harder for troops to rally and form into their maneuver elements. Finally though several brigades of BTR-80s and 90s and a couple of T-80 tank battalions found routes that enabled them to link up with our airborne troops and they quickly captured several UK towns along the route to London.

Image

2 Regiments of MT-LBs from Northern Fleet Naval Infantry begin their assault to capture Aberdeen, a vital naval base and location of a coastal radar and air defence facility. Once Aberdeen is captured the rest of Northern Fleet Naval Infantry will be able to debark and begin a full offensive in the north.

Image

March 11th, 2021
Airborne forces finally captured the airfield in Norwich. Combat engineers were flown in immediatly to begin repairs on the airfield as well as several regiments of 1st Air Assault Corps airborne artillery units. 6 squadrons of SU-39's were redeployed to Norwich to begin CAS missions in the area.

Image

March 12th, 2021
The bridge north of Dartford is captured by the 352nd Tank Battalion. Maneuver elements of the 6th Army are now only several kilometers from linking up with airborne troops in Basildon. Several sqaudrons of MI-35 attack helicopters have moved further north along the route and caught several Challenger tank battalions fleeing west.

Image

March 13th, 2021
6th Army has linked up with airborne forces in Basildon, and opened up a direct route towards the airfield in Norwich. The eastern perimeter of London is now under control of the 6th Army. 20th Army has been given orders to begin movements into the UK.

Image
Image

In the north, Aberdeen has been captured by Northern Fleet Naval Infantry. The area has been cleared of all UK subs and the support elements of Northern Fleet Naval Infantry can begin debarkation in Aberdeen.

Image

An overal tactical picture of Operation Perseus as of March 13th, 2021. Phase VIII of Operation Perseus will begin within hours with 20th Army deploying to the south and west of London. Even though debated earlier, the 1st and 2nd MCAB of the 1st Expiditionary Army have embarked on and are near the coast of Norwich ready to make landfall once the area has been thoroughly reconned and cleared of any threats to a amphibeous landing in the area. Intelligence has determined that the threat to a naval debarkation along the coasts of Norwich to be minimal and would greatly speed up our surrounding of London from the north.

2 British SSN-20 Astutes break their concealement silently waiting off of coast of the once Wallsend-On-Tyne Naval Base and attack one of our fast troop transport hovercraft. A battalion of our light marines from the NFNI is destroyed. 3 SSN-971 Akula IIs, a SSN-945 Sierra, a SSK-207 Kobben, and a S-802 Walrus attack sub are quickly routed to the area to intercept and sink the two British subs.
A firece underwater battle ensues and finally after 6 hours the two British subs are sunk, with one of our Sierras and an Akula taking heavy damage.

March 14th, 2021

The 1st and 2nd MCAB of the 1st Expiditionary Army debark in the Norfolk area from massive Russian troop transports. They immediatly form into their maneuver formations and surround Peterborough cutting off a main route from the north of London.

Image

The 6th Army is encountering heavy resistance skirting the eastern edge of Harlow and Greenwhich. Orders have been given to attack and take these two cities in order to speed up our movements of the large division size formations of 6th Army which is trying move further norht to link up with 1st and 2nd MCAB of 1st EA.

Our troops of the Northern Fleet Naval infantry have been taking a heavy pounding from long range missile attacks. A Mi-17 Majestic high altitude recon sqaudron is sent to the area to recon where the possible strikes might be originating from. 2 SSN-971 Akula IIs lying silently near the source have also been ordered to maneuver silently and recon the area.

Image

Our high altitude spy plane flying near the naval bases of Greenock and Ayr reports 3 British F-23 Durkes, and 4 DDG-45 Daring class missile destroyers firing ship launched surface to surface missiles at forward elements of the NFNI.
