Make colonies great again

Ok this is a two for one. First a request second a idea .


First the request. Is it possible to get the option to have the AI switch the default from Annex to colonize. Other than a few cases like Korea's, Vietnam's and broken up countries from shattered world where Annex makes sense. This is mainly for more RP games in say for example 1949 where the USA and USSR where more about installing puppet governments




Now that the request is gone in to the idea. Make the colonies great. How this is done should be through more control. Of course a different kind of control. Here are some ways it could be done.


*Set the limit of self defense. This can be from no militarization at all, build garrisons, maintain limited military for deference to full Independence. could all say have them only have a army but no navy or air extra extra. This can mean your far fung colonies are better at defending of your enemies or even help you in your wars. But it means a colony fighting for independence can now have a actual military force


*Set trade regulation. From full trade to freedom to only trading among your allies or even your other colonies to sending all surplus to the host nation/ This can be set per resource or just in general. This can many you can full control of critical resources like rubber and oil but all so allow colonies to make money through trade


*RnD set the focus for the colony RnD as if they where your RnD minster. Simple maybe you colonized Germany and you want to use them as a RnD team to get sweet as tanks or maybe it a African country and you want them to focus on resource than improve there resource extradition


*Budget focus. Same method as if they where you minster. Focusing on domestic approval means less support to leave or say screw it all money goes to infstructer to get that sweet as resources you strip mining



*Give grants. instead of giving them money maybe you give them money they can only spend on RnD, military, Medical, infstructer. Extra extra


Most of if not all of this will basically be done through accessing there minsters

i always thought the "Liberate" option were used for installing puppet governments aka regime change aka removing bad guys aka proliferate democracy aka Liberating the people ...
Would be nice if Liberate would give a free take to change any treaty with the liberated country without restrictions.

liberate is more like say Allies in Europe ww2 where puppet is the axis. vinch France, the dansih government, dutch government extra extra under Hitler where fully under German control. France post ww2 did it's own thing.


A good puppet from the cold war would be the afghan government during the soviet occupations
