Been gone a while, help me out here

Post by barkhauer »

Other than creating a multiplayer save game (which I can't do with Steam version due to account limitations) how can I load a save game with the No Units option? I have a 1965 game as Brazil that I started in 1914, and between them the USA and Soviets have 12,000 deployed units, so it takes several minutes to run a day on an i7-8600k

I have read this a couple of times, I cannot determine what you are trying to do.

I am also confused about you typing you cannot create a mp save game.

Are you saying that you want to create a new cache from your current save game and than start that game with "no units" option from the lobby? (*this is doable) Or something completely different? HUH

Back in when SR2020 was new, you could create a multiplayer game, join it yourself with a second instance of the game on your computer, and then be able to do things to clean up the scenario, like start it with the no unit option checked, or switch to the US or Russia and reserve their units to get the daily tick rate going again. This was useful for people who were tinkering more with the economics than the warfare.

What I really want to do is solve the problem of 12,000 deployed units while continuing my current save. I don't much care how I do it. Easiest would be to be able to use the "no units" option on an existing save, so that the AI can't immediately redeploy the units and I'm right back where I started.

You can still log in as MP game with SRU. Just copy your save game to MP folder, then start MP. Steam has no bearing on it. By the way, you can also start SRU without Steam. Just click on the .exe, Steam ONLY updates the game can match make.

While that's partly true you need steam and internet to load MP saves.

That is correct, I forgot about that terrible change which requires Steam. Thanks for reminding me.
