Same with every other superpower & great power that have existed trough time. Thats the power of power, you can do more without consequences.

China is just re-emerging as a superpower, they've been there before, 2000 years ago, 1000 years ago and now again.

This time they truly have potential, if they manage to provide their population with a large "middle class", then they would be huge economically. With such an large population, they basically have endless reserves, and with a future modernized armed force, they could really be something to reckon with

China need to prevent themselves from looking inward as they have in the past and they will be a global superpower.

I don't see that there's that much of a need for such large armed forces nowadays. If such massive forces were to be committed, the nuke button would have likely been pressed already, in which case a 10 million man army is little more than one of many targets.

but if they use nukes they risk chinas instant retaliation but china like wont be able to field an army that large without their economy falling apart

Of course, which is why it would never get to the stage where any one nation would need to field tens of millions in the first place. If things ever get that far, it's already game over, so to speak.

It's possible to run an war economy, where you only produce the essentials and the extra manpower is put into military industry. In the future, we could see someone develop more effective anti-nuke weapons to protect those million armies from nukes.

China's only got 1.3 billion people and they have been cutting there manpower to make there armed forces more streamlined and effective. They've been trying to reduce there population and modernize since the mid-1970's.

yep, this is bringing results, compared to example africa, where you make progress(eg produce more food or industry) to increase production, then it gets eaten up my an rapid pop increase. In China this has allowed the economy to develop, without too big explosion in demand, so through time china has created a large middle class(I've read estimates of 300-600mil).
