Suggestion: increasing research capacity of regions
I suggest research capacity to be increased for some major regions. I present following reasons to do that:
- inability to follow historical research rates
- tech lagging of other regions behind US becomes to ahistoricall
- allied AI regions do not know how to share techs
- AI regions never build research facilities
I suggest following changes:
- teach AI to build research facilities OR:
- add 1620, 241 Hiroshima 1X research center for Japan
- add 822,182 Bordeaux X1 research center for France
- add 870,181 Torino X1 research center for Italy
- add 805,146 Bristol X1 research center for UK
- add 907,103 Uppsala X1 research center for Sweden
- add 1543, 177 Harbin X1 research center for China
- add 1504,210 Beijing X1 research center for China
- add 1526,300 Guangzhou x1 research center for China

Re: Suggestion: increasing research capacity of regions
Agreed! Even more importantly, something even more should be done about this. If you play 20+ years into the game, it become silly, because major countries are technologically advanced while the rest of the world is still where they started the game. So for example if you play in 1936 and advance to 1960 you can see most small countries still don't have even basic technologies that were very common in those countries historically at that year.
Perhaps make technologies 3x faster to be researched when they are 15 years behind the schedule? I mean, for example, even the most backwater countries in the world now have basic electricity, radio, TV, fridges, etc. It's because when it's so commonplace in other countries it's impossible NOT to get those technologies in your country as well.

It would also be nice to get AI to keep researching as they seem to fall behind in unit research all the time which means they use old units a lot instead of building new designs, maybe this is a result of research cap or just a lack of priority because when I gave my Russian colony 20 research stations, it researched all the tech and all the units.

Question: Is this for SRGW or for SRU?

Unit research is still not working well.SGTscuba wrote:It would also be nice to get AI to keep researching as they seem to fall behind in unit research all the time which means they use old units a lot instead of building new designs, maybe this is a result of research cap or just a lack of priority because when I gave my Russian colony 20 research stations, it researched all the tech and all the units.

* * Comment: Hiroshima was not a historical research center in Japan - therefore, recommend:
* Gifu..........aeronautical research center
* Yokosuka.......naval design and research center
----------
China.........
At the time period of SR-36/SRGW, Beijing was not a research center, but almost backwater administrative district center (and, one-time capital); Nanking was then the capital and a much better candidate because of involvement there of several military -elated industries.
Suggest:
* Nanking -instead of Beijing.
The recommendation for Guangzhou - then known as Canton - is accurate and was the first center for aircraft manufacturing in China (1930s). Harbin is acceptable as a major industrial focused center, with strong Western industrial investment, until Japanese occupied and it remained as such until 1945.
These would apply to both SRU and SRGW.

If you have suggestions for changes to SRU, those should be posted again in the proper form. I'll consider these changes for the SRGW map.geminif4ucorsair wrote:These would apply to both SRU and SRGW.

Re: Suggestion: increasing research capacity of regions
Meh some sort of technology seepage... IE the more countries that have it the easier it gets to research. At some point a tech becomes so widespread that researching it becomes redundant even for the most technologically backward countries. How many years do you think small african countries put into computers.. yet i bet you can find internet cafes in the major cities of pretty much every one...

Re: Suggestion: increasing research capacity of regions
What about a bonus for research or some way to increase research speed for nations in an alliance. Maybe something as simple as a plus x % on research if a formal alliance treaty is signed?

I like this one...also with a new specific treaty.(Tech Treaty)GIJoe597 wrote:What about a bonus for research or some way to increase research speed for nations in an alliance. Maybe something as simple as a plus x % on research if a formal alliance treaty is signed?

Re: Suggestion: increasing research capacity of regions
The theory behind it would be, the nations, two or more, are pooling their knowledge, resources and research methods/results, sharing progress and failures, which eliminates useless lines of pursuit, thereby increasing over all speed.
