SRGW - United States - New "Fort's" Needed to replace non-historical

Post by geminif4ucorsair »

* * Below is a list of appropriate "Forts" that should be in play for SR-Great War, replacing those that were in the earlier thread (recommended for deletion).

Some are also additional suggestions that should be added to existing city or other sites. For example, in the San Diego hex (X 189 Y 251) there is little wiggle-room adjoining this hex, yet there should be two Barracks added within the immediate area of San Diego - North Island and the army Camp at Balboa Park, plus the Army Camp (that later became Brown Army Air Corps airfield just inland from the city).

* * Below are my suggestions to get the correct Fort's and a few Fortresses into the game:

Location: Hex Comments

* * San Diego (CA) X 189 Y 251
ADD: Barracks - 4th Marine Regt. was camped at what is now North Island MCAS, from
1910 as a result of the Pancho Villa raids across the U.S. border.
Marine's would later move northward to Camp Pendelton, authorized
by Congress in 1916; the North Island then turned over to the Navy
for a major air base (NAS North Island) location.

* * Watervliet Arsenal X - Counterpart for producing artillery with Rock Island Arsenal, having
recently built 199mm (4.7") M1906 and 3" (76.2mm) field guns.

* * Fort McClellan X 377 Y 247 - Outside the city of Anniston, Alabama.
ADD: Military Complex, Barracks

* * Fort H.W. Seward X 174 Y 089 - Outside the city of Haines, AK, northeast of Juneau and responsible for
defense of that State's capital.
ADD: Military Complex, Barracks

* * Honolulu, Hawaii X 383 Y 254 - Located within city of Honolulu, from 1911-on.
Add: Barracks

* * Fort Shafter X 019 Y 308 - Located inland on Oahu, site of Schofield Barracks from 1907.
Add: Military Complex, Barracks,Fortress

DELETE: Small village (WAIPAHU) at tis locations should be deleted - and replaced with Military Complex above.

* * Fort Ruger-Kamehameha X 018 Y 309 - Located adjacent and around Diamond Head, these two sites were
a mix of Army barracks and coastal defense sites (Fortresses).
Add: Military Complex, Barracks, 2 x Fortress

* * Fort Washington (MD) X 434 Y 216 - Fortress defense site from 1800s

* * Fort Standish (MA) X 468 Y 186 - Fortress defense site from late-1700s

* * Quantico (VA) X 431 Y 217 - ADD: Barracks (site is already there for USMC)

* * Fort Sill (OK) X 303 Y 242 - Close to city of Lawton (on map), since 1869!
ADD: Military Complex, Barracks

* * Fort Kearny (RI) X 466 Y 195 - Built between 1904-08.

* * Fort McNair-DeRussey X 433 Y 214 - The two are closely linked for defense of the DC area.
ADD: Military Complex, Barracks

------------

* * The above lists is slightly smaller than the total of those suggested for deletion in earlier thread, but it still remains a good balance for U.S., with the shift also to historical vehicle (Land Fabrication) sites.
