German armoured cars
Please, reconsider ability of Germany to build armoured cars at the start of the war. In reality, german high command become interested in armoured cars only after experiences gained with encounters with belgian Minerva armoured car. And only at this moment (end of 1914) Germany invested in armoured car research and productions.
Germany shoul'd somewhat lag behind with tank techs and be in advantage with artillery techs (compared to France and UK).
Also, armoured cars shoul'd not be marked as infantry units (don't know if that is still the case).

Re: German armoured cars
Can you better define what you're suggesting? Take away a certain tech from Germany at the start?Zuikaku wrote:Please, reconsider ability of Germany to build armoured cars at the start of the war...
ACs are in infantry still, that would be a bit change to move them back.

Re: German armoured cars
I suggest that Germany:
- does not have armoured designs researched at the start of the game
- no armoured cars in unit inventory
- no techs required to research armoured car designs
In WW1 Germany built some 50-100 armoured cars in total.

Re: German armoured cars
I disagree. Germany could not make armoured cars in 1890. Siam in 1914 should not be able to make armoured cars.Zuikaku wrote:- no techs required to research armoured car designs.

Re: German armoured cars
I think he means no tech's pre-researched so they would then have to research the tech before being able to research the cars. That would make sense to me.Balthagor wrote:I disagree. Re: German armoured cars
That's it. Germany did not produce armoured cars at the time. O ly after early war experience they started investing into these techs and designs.SGTscuba wrote:I think he means no tech's pre-researched so they would then have to research the tech before being able to research the cars. Re: German armoured cars
I'd +1 Zuikaku's suggestion in that case

So this;
Zuikaku wrote:I suggest that Germany:

- no armoured cars in unit inventory
- Germany knows the techs required to research armoured car designs

More like this.Balthagor wrote:So this;
Zuikaku wrote:I suggest that Germany:

- Germany can research techs required to research armoured car designs
And because of this:
"The very first German armoured cars were special large car or truck chassis adapted to carry a skyward-looking artillery piece for use against observation balloons. These vehicles were collectively known as Ballon Abwehr Kanonen (BAK), though none were taken into large-scale use.
The Belgians were the first to demonstrate the potential of the armoured car in mobile warfare, with the Minerva Armoured Car. German infantry and cavalry were at times distinctly inconvenienced by the hit-and-run tactics employed by the Belgian armoured cars. Having suffered somewhat at the hands of these vehicles, the German Army decided to produce its own armoured car, but without any practical experience they approached the car manufacturing companies Ehrhardt, Daimler and Büssing, and ordered a prototype armoured car from each.
During 1915, the three companies produced the ordered prototypes. In all three cases, the companies chose to ignore the fact that the Belgian armoured cars were little more than converted touring cars, and developed what they perceived to be more suitable vehicles. "

Re: German armoured cars
armored cars should not be infantry units either, they where and are better suited for the recon unit category to avoid everyone using them as armored infantry

Re: German armoured cars
I think that they represent just an infantry detachment with some armored cars added to them as support... not a military unit organized like a Panzer Batallion or something.Zuikaku wrote:Don't know why are they listed as infantry at all. especially in WW1 era.Evil Overlord wrote:armored cars should not be infantry units either, they where and are better suited for the recon unit category to avoid everyone using them as armored infantry

Anyway, that is wrong for many reasons.HerrDak wrote:I think that they represent just an infantry detachment with some armored cars added to them as support... not a military unit organized like a Panzer Batallion or something.Zuikaku wrote:Don't know why are they listed as infantry at all. especially in WW1 era.Evil Overlord wrote:armored cars should not be infantry units either, they where and are better suited for the recon unit category to avoid everyone using them as armored infantry

Re: German armoured cars
Yeah, that one is on me. A poor design decision. Unfortunately a lot of work to reverse it :(
